    1. (born in a swamp… no cave, no star, no angel, no shepherds)

    4. (none of those miracles) 
    5. (no such word as Iusa, no one called Holy Child, 
    6. no sermon on mount, 
    7. not transfigured, 
    8. no death,
    9.  no resurrection, 
    10. merged with Ra the sun god, “died” each evening “back to life” each morning.
    11. None of those titles. 
    12. No mention of 1000 year reign

    1. Indo-Iranian (Persian) god of light, adopted by Greek and Rome
  9. What are some of the claims about Mithras that rattle some Christians? (List 3) 
    1. born in cave 
    2. Born of virgin
    3. Born on Dec 25, 
    4. Shepherds present at birth 
    5. great teacher, 
    6. 12 disciples, 
    7. sacrificed self for world peace, 
    8. buried and rose 3 days later
  10. What are the answers to those claims? 
    1. (born out of solid rock-left hole. 
    2. No virgin. 
    3. Dec 25 not Biblical, 
    4. shepherds before people– decided AFTER Jesus, not a teacher,
    5. appeared in murals with 12 signs of zodiac–AFTER Jesus. 
    6. Killed a threatening bull. 
    7. Nothing about his death (much less resurrection) 
    8. BEGAN observing resurrection AFTER Jesus (Tertullian: they borrowed from Christianity)
  11. How can we know that Christians didn’t borrow their ideas about Jesus from followers of Mithras? 
    1. Most claimed similarities are not accurate. Actual similarities are not found in Mithraism until AFTER the resurrection of Jesus, so borrowing was the other way around.
  12. What’s wrong with just knowing in my heart that Jesus is real? Why do I need evidence?
    1. You may not need evidence to KNOW. But we usually need evidence to SHOW. Otherwise, what we say is similar to what Mormons, Muslims, etc. say
  13. What are two kinds of people that can be helped by the evidence that God  has left us for His existence and for the trustworthiness of His Word?
