Some of you who may be new to our web pages may be curious about who we are and what we believe. Here’s a brief overview that may help.

Vickie and I live in Tellico Plains, Tennessee. We moved here from Garland, TX (Dallas County) in 1999. (I grew up in Tellico Plains and graduated from TPHS in 1964.) We are proud and thankful parents of seven sons (one of whom has already gone to be with the Lord) and fifteen grandchildren.

Vickie serves as a Compounding Pharmacy Tech at Little Drugs Family Wellness Center in Sweetwater, TN. Previously, when we lived in Dallas County, Texas, she served as a Certified Professional Midwife, was president of the North Texas Midwives Association, and delivered hundreds of babies in moms’ homes and in birth centers in the Dallas area.

I currently serve as chaplain and teacher at Cross Creek Christian School in Sweetwater, TN. I previously taught math, physics, and ACT prep in public high schools in Tennessee and Texas. I have also served churches in Tennessee, Florida, and Texas as minister of education, associate pastor, and senior pastor.

I graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville in 1967 with a degree in physics. I received a master’s degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX in 1973. I also did postgraduate work (“ABD”) at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville from 1973-1976 in the department of Education Administration and Supervision.

Our Beliefs

We subscribe to the statement of faith referred to as the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message.

That means, for example, we believe that:

“The Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is God’s revelation of Himself to man. It is a perfect treasure of divine instruction. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter. Therefore, all Scripture is totally true and trustworthy.

“Christ is the eternal Son of God. In His incarnation as Jesus Christ He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Jesus perfectly revealed and did the will of God, taking upon Himself human nature with its demands and necessities and identifying Himself completely with mankind yet without sin. He honored the divine law by His personal obedience, and in His substitutionary death on the cross He made provision for the redemption of men from sin. He was raised from the dead with a glorified body and appeared to His disciples as the person who was with them before His crucifixion.

“Salvation involves the redemption of the whole man, and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer. In its broadest sense salvation includes regeneration, justification, sanctification, and glorification. There is no salvation apart from personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord.
