  1. What two avenues of Satanic attack does the breastplate of righteousness protect us from?
    1. Pride, arrogance, self-righteousness
    2. Paralysis from condemnation, guilt, feelings of worthlessness
  2. What good things can Satan use to tempt us toward pride?
    1. Encouragement from other Christians. A sense that the Lord is using us and that we are growing a lot in Him.
  3. How can Christians help ensure that they are not falling into pride?
    1. Ask your spouse, mentor, parent, or Christian friend to be ruthlessly honest. Remember, you are not seeking encouragement at this point, you are asking others to see your blind spots!
  4. How does the breastplate protect us from pride?
    1. We recognize that our righteousness (good works) are useless. We recognize that only in HIS righteousness can we claim victory. We will realize that what God does through us is HIM, not us. He gets the glory, not us.
  5. Can you remember the gist of any of the verses God gives us to warn us of the danger of pride?
    1. For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. (Romans 12:3)

    1. Reminding us of past, already forgiven, sins
    2. Making us feel guilty for temptations

    1. Hebrews 4:15–Jesus was tempted like we are. He certainly was not guilty.
