Further Clarification Regarding Student Grades

To make it as reasonable as possible for students to complete assignments, I DO accept late work without penalty.

I DO allow any student who does poorly on any test to set up a time with me to retake that test for an improved grade.

Students who complete all their assignments (with parent signature) and who maintain only a 50 test average on all tests for the quarter, will receive at least a passing grade of 60. And remember, to get the test average up to 50, students may retake tests!

I make video recordings of almost all of my classes and post them on YouTube so that students (and parents) can review recordings of what we have covered in class, especially in classes like 7th Math, where I point out specifically in my PowerPoint presentations the specific information that students must learn to do well on the upcoming test. These remain on YouTube for students who do poorly on tests to go back and re-watch the appropriate videos. I also give hard copy handouts in 7th Math that focus on the kind of information students need to know for the tests.

Normally, all grades are posted on ccgrade.com the same day of (or within a few days of) completion of tests and assignments, so parents can know, at any time, how students are progressing and what assignments need to be completed, and what tests need to be retaken.

I provide my cell phone number (423-261-5562) to all parents and students at the beginning of the year. It’s very easy to text or call me to communicate about poor test grades, missing assignments, low grade averages, or any other issues we need to discuss.

For any given subject, I only have students in class for not quite 2 hours each week. That means I depend heavily on parents supervising their children’s assignment work and test preparation during the rest of the week.

I’m praying for you and your children! I want them to do well both academically and in their walk with the Lord (and the two DO go together! God wants our best for His glory!). But students can do well only by accepting the importance of working hard, studying with intensity, and learning stuff!

If we need to talk, please text or call me at 423-261-5562. If you decide to call, please leave a message on my voicemail.

Stay in the battle!
