Psalm 051 How to Confess Sin (Part 1)
Podcast: Play in new window | Download
One of the most precious promises we have from God’s Word is that “if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)
In Psalm 51, after his sin with Bathsheba, David gives us a beautiful example of the godly confession of sin.
There is a lot of powerful and profound theology in this Psalm. It’s worth some thoughtful, prayerful meditation.
In this study:
- The background of Psalm 51 (2 Samuel 11-12)
- The consequences of sin
- The difference between our conception of justice and God’s perfect justice
- The difference between sinning against people and sinning against God
- Two ways in which we are all “in Adam.”
This study is continued in the next podcast.
