The Shield of Faith

Satan will attempt to shoot “fiery darts” at us in the form of ugly thoughts, temptations, unbelief, and distracting thoughts. He can also use the tongues of other people to shoot “fiery darts.” These can take the form of persecuting words, critical comments, discouraging words, words designed to create fear, harsh and hurting words, curses, and deceptions. Without the shield of faith, these words will defeat us. With the shield, the darts will be quenched.

It is important for us to realize that no matter what kind of fiery darts the enemy by shoot at us, that ultimately, in light of eternity, they cannot hurt us!

“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” (Luke 10:19)

“I confess that You are my Stronghold.” (“The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble: and He knoweth them that trust in Him.” —Nahum 1:7)

“I confess that You are my Hiding Place.” (“Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance.” —Psalm 32:7) (“Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.” —Psalm 119:114)

“I confess that You are the Strength of my life.” (“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” —Psalm 27:1)

“I confess that the blood of Jesus Christ is a protective shield about me.” (“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. —Revelation 12:11)
