1 John 02-04 Christians Don’t Continue in Sin (Part 2)

If our faith and salvation are genuine, we will show evidence of loving our brothers and sisters in Christ. Love is much more than just talk. “He is no fool who gives that which he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose.” (Jim Elliot, Martyred Missionary to the Auca Indians of Ecuador) The only basis of our confidence toward God when it comes to prayer is Jesus Himself.  Some who called themselves Christian have renounced their commitment because of their experience of unanswered prayers. Obedience, faith, love, abiding in Christ, and the work of the Holy Spirit are in one bundle.  Christ is the propitiation for our sin. Some keys to dealing with a loved one who is living in sin and claims that if you don’t “accept me as I am,” (i.e., agree that the sin is ok) then you must hate them. The love of God in us and our love for Him removes all fear of men in this life and of judgment in the next.
